Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support the Science Department. The Lab Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the school’s science laboratories. This position is essential in providing hands-on support for practical science education across all levels. Key Responsibilities: Laboratory Preparation & Support: Prepare and set up materials, equipment, and chemicals for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Support science teachers during practical classes and assessments. Prepare resources and setups for A Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical examinations (CIE). Support students and teachers in the completion of IBDP Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs) in the sciences. Equipment & Inventory Management: Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, and stored appropriately. Manage inventory of chemicals and lab supplies, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage. Dispose of chemical and biological waste safely and in accordance with relevant regulations. Safety & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date records of safety data sheets (SDS) and risk assessments. Ensure all laboratory activities comply with school health and safety policies and relevant legal standards. Assist in the development and implementation of lab safety procedures and safety training for students. Collaboration & Contribution: Support with preparation or supervision of science-related events, competitions, and exhibitions when necessary. Collaborate effectively with science teachers and department staff. Requirements: Qualifications & Experience: Diploma or degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, or Laboratory Technology). Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in an educational setting. Experience preparing A Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical examinations is highly desired. Experience supporting IBDP Science Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs) is highly desired. Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of laboratory equipment, procedures, and health & safety standards. Good organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students. Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Preferred: Mandarin proficiency is a plus. Familiarity with educational technology tools. Personal Attributes: Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious. Proactive and well-organised. Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to support both staff and students.
