The Role: Senior Mortgage Broker Type: Full-Time This is an exciting opportunity for an established Mortgage Broker who wants to build something substantial. You’ll play a key role in Venture’s mission to provide comprehensive financial solutions to clients throughout New Zealand. You’ll connect with clients, understand their aspirations and deliver customised mortgage solutions that align with their broader financial goals. You’ll also collaborate closely with our Insurance and Wealth Management teams, creating opportunities across the wider Venture Group and ensuring clients have access to a genuinely comprehensive financial service. This is not a purely managerial position. In the short to medium term, your role will likely look very similar to what you’re doing today — writing mortgages, building relationships, finding opportunities and winning new business. We’re looking for an established broker who loves the hunt , enjoys building a client base and wants the freedom and support to grow significantly. For someone who demonstrates strong performance, leadership ability and a genuine commitment to the growth of Venture, there will be an opportunity over time to step into a broader leadership role. This may include building and leading a team of brokers, taking on increased responsibility within the business and receiving remuneration that reflects that progression. With five locations available, along with flexible working options, there is considerable freedom around where and how you operate. Your Responsibilities Manage, retain and GROW your portfolio of clients across residential and commercial lending. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand your client base. Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and understand their broader financial goals. Assess clients’ financial circumstances and recommend suitable mortgage products and lending structures. Negotiate with lenders to secure competitive rates, structures and terms for clients. Guide clients through mortgage applications, including pre-approvals, purchases, refinancing and renewals. Develop strong referral relationships and identify opportunities across Venture’s Mortgage, Insurance and Wealth Management divisions. Support the recruitment and development of additional Mortgage Brokers as the business expands. Help team members upskill, develop and achieve their goals. Contribute ideas and market insight to Venture’s wider growth strategy. Work collaboratively across the wider Venture Group. Stay up to date with lending trends, regulation and market conditions. Maintain high standards of compliance, professionalism and ethical conduct. What You Bring A performance-driven mindset with a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. A genuine desire to build and grow a substantial client portfolio. Strong strategic and analytical skills. A growth-oriented attitude and willingness to embrace change and continuous learning. At least five years’ experience in mortgage broking or related financial services. NZ Certificate (Level 5) in Financial Services – Residential Property Lending, or equivalent. A client-first approach with strong collaboration skills across clients, lenders and colleagues. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver key outcomes. Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop optimal lending solutions. The confidence and drive to generate new business and pursue opportunities independently. Leadership qualities and the potential to build and lead a high-performing team as the business grows.
