Role Purpose: Head of Capital Management is responsible for leading the Capital Management function, ensuring the company’s capital position and balance sheet risks are managed in line with regulatory requirements, Group standards, and the company’s risk appetite. The role provides strategic oversight of capital adequacy, solvency management, and ALM, while partnering closely with Risk, Finance, Actuarial, and Group stakeholders to support sustainable growth and financial resilience. Key Accountabilities: Capital Management & Solvency Lead capital adequacy management, including monitoring solvency position, capital buffers, and key capital metrics under normal and stressed conditions. Oversee capital planning, stress testing, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis to support dividend planning and strategic decision‑making. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and Group capital management frameworks. Provide expert judgement on capital optimisation initiatives, balance sheet resilience, and use of capital. Asset Liability Management (ALM) Own and provide strategic oversight of the ALM framework, ensuring assets are aligned with liability characteristics, risk appetite, and business strategy. Oversee key ALM dimensions including duration management, liquidity risk, reinvestment risk, and currency mismatches. Review and challenge ALM assumptions, methodologies, and results in collaboration with Actuarial and Risk functions. Provide clear ALM insights, trade‑offs, and recommendations to ALCO and senior management. Regulatory & Group Reporting Ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality capital and ALM‑related reporting to regulators, Group Office, senior management, and committees. Act as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and Group on capital management, solvency, and ALM matters. Support regulatory submissions such as solvency reports, stress testing results, dividend applications, and capital-related regulatory reviews. Governance, Committees & Decision Support Provide capital and ALM perspectives to ALCO, Investment Committee, Audit Committee, and the Board as required, ensuring decisions are supported by robust analysis and clear articulation of risks and implications. Ensure capital management and ALM processes are well-governed, documented, and subject to appropriate controls and challenge. Stakeholder Management & Leadership Lead, coach, and develop the Capital Management team, ensuring clear accountability, strong technical capability, and succession planning. Partner closely with Risk, Finance, Actuarial, and other key stakeholders to deliver integrated balance sheet outcomes. Communicate complex capital and ALM topics clearly and concisely to senior executives and Boards. Continuous Improvement Drive enhancements to capital and ALM processes, reporting, and controls to improve efficiency, transparency, and decision usefulness. Promote automation, data quality improvements, and the use of analytics in capital and solvency monitoring. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline; postgraduate or professional qualifications preferred. 12+ years of relevant experience in capital management, ALM, solvency, risk management, or insurance financial management. Strong understanding of insurance balance sheet dynamics, solvency regulation, and ALM principles. Proven leadership experience managing senior professionals and working with executive‑level stakeholders. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear executive insights.
