About the role Morgan Half International (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our client’s technology team. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust data infrastructure for data analytics. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in building scalable backend systems, optimising data pipelines, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our data platforms. This role offers the opportunity to take on significant technical responsibility and shape the future direction of the data architecture whilst working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities Design and develop scalable backend infrastructure and data pipeline architectures to support the organisation's data requirements and business objectives Build, optimise and maintain robust data systems and databases, ensuring high performance, availability and security standards Implement and manage data ingestion processes, data transformations, and ETL workflows to enable efficient data flow across the organisation Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and data pipeline issues to minimise downtime and ensure system reliability Conduct code reviews, implement best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards and processes Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development within the team Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to enhance our data infrastructure capabilities Document systems, processes and technical specifications to ensure knowledge transfer and support organisational learning What we're looking for 5+years of professional experience in data engineering, backend infrastructure development or related fields Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python for backend development Extensive experience designing and implementing distributed data systems, data warehouses, and real-time data pipelines Solid understanding of cloud platforms and infrastructure services (Azure) and experience deploying scalable solutions Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in distributed systems Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field Experience with event streaming platforms and real-time data processing Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements Contributions to open-source projects or involvement in the technology community How to apply If you meet the above criteria and are ready to make an impact as a Senior Data Engineer, we would love to hear from you.
