A New Kind of International School The Jataka School is a new, not-for-profit, international early years and primary school. We interweave the British curriculum with a new framework for introducing Buddhist wisdom to children in creative and age-appropriate ways. Details Located on Sukhumvit 97/1, Bangkok. We open this August 2026. In the 2026/27 academic year, we will only open with two classes (EY1-2); adding two more (Y1-2) next year. We are looking for people who bring professional competence, genuine warmth, curiosity, and alignment with our values. The Role The School Accounts Officer is a critical role within the Finance team, responsible for the integrity of the school's income cycle from invoicing through to reconciliation, reporting, and compliance. Your work will directly underpin the financial health of the school and the trust families place in us to manage their payments accurately and transparently. In the school's founding year, this role carries real responsibility: establishing financial systems and processes from the ground up, with no large finance team to fall back on. This is a role for someone who is comfortable working independently, has experienced work in a start-up, and takes ownership of their work. This role works ensures the smooth running of the school's financial and operational life. Accounts Receivable Issue invoices for tuition, school trips, activities, uniform purchases, facility hire, and fees in a timely manner. Manage fee collection across all payment channels: cash, cheque, credit card, bank transfer, and bill payment. Issue receipts promptly and maintain accurate records of all transactions. Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up with families on overdue or insufficient payments in a professional and sensitive manner. Maintain and update the refundable deposits register. Maintain master data for all accounts receivable: customer records, discount schedules, agency agreements, and related information. Coordinate with payment platforms on fee collection matters. Collaborate with the Admissions team to update student numbers and ensure accurate deferred income reconciliation. Coordinate with the Admissions team in issuing the first invoice for all new enrolments. Accounting & Reconciliation Update the daily income schedule (tuition and fees) by student and grade level, cross-checking invoices against individual enrolment records and class allocations. Perform daily cash reconciliations against bank statements and receipts. Record any school shop-type transactions in the accounting system and reconcile against sales records to ensure completeness and accuracy. Handle month-end close tasks, including journal vouchers for revenue recognition, deferred income, and other accounts receivable transactions. Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for all receivables-related accounts. Prepare and submit a weekly accounts receivable status report, including fee collection status, to management. Prepare detailed accounts receivable reports and supporting documentation for external auditors. Support year-end close processes and statutory audit requirements. Act as cover for the School Receptionist or other tasks required by the school when needed. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead financial modelling for revenue projections, cash flow, and fee income schedules. Analyse variances between actual income and budget or forecast; identify drivers and flag issues to the ELT. Ensure all accounting treatment aligns with Thai Financial Reporting Standards (TFRS) and relevant tax obligations, including VAT and withholding tax. Support continuous improvement of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. Reporting & Compliance Prepare management accounts and financial reports for the ELT and Board, delivering accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and support statutory audits. Ensure timely compliance with tax filings (VAT, CIT, withholding tax), BOI/Ministry of Education-related accounting rules, and other regulatory requirements. Maintain appropriate accounting policies and procedures documentation. Take ownership of ad hoc projects or initiatives as assigned by the ELT, including process improvement and system upgrades. The duties and responsibilities of this post may vary from time to time according to the changing demands of the school. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPD or CPA qualification is a plus. 3–5 years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, or financial operations. Strong knowledge of accounting systems, AR, VAT & withholding tax. Strong understanding of Thai Financial Reporting Standards and tax regulations. Experience coordinating with external auditors is preferred. Familiar with month-end and year-end closing processes. Experience in an international or school environment is an advantage. Full professional fluency in Thai and English, both written and spoken, is required. Skills Proficient in PEAK accounting software, and Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets. Good command of English, written and spoken, is required. Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse stakeholders—including families approaching finance with questions or concerns.
