A leading financial services organisation seeks a Java Developer - Back Office (Contract) in Hong Kong to drive the transformation of post-trade settlement systems, strengthening the performance and reliability of derivatives market operations. Key responsibilities: As a Java Developer - Back Office, you will design, develop, and enhance mission-critical post-trade settlement systems, ensuring stable and efficient financial market operations. Design, develop, and enhance mission-critical post-trade settlement systems for derivatives, ensuring stable and efficient processing within a regulated financial environment Own ongoing improvements to existing settlement platforms by identifying performance gaps and implementing enhancements to optimise reliability and system efficiency Lead end-to-end testing activities including unit, integration, system testing, and UAT support to ensure robust and high-quality software deliver Partner with business users, QA teams, and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions and drive seamless delivery from design to deployment Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including deployment and operational guides, to support system sustainability and knowledge continuity Drive automation and system optimisation initiatives across back-office operations to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk Participate in code reviews, production support, incident resolution, and stakeholder communications, ensuring system stability while contributing to continuous improvement and adoption of modern Java, microservices, cloud, and DevOps practices Candidate profile: To excel in this role, you bring strong enterprise Java experience in regulated environments, with solid microservices, cloud, and DevOps knowledge. 5-12 years' system development experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline Strong expertise in Java development, with the ability to design and deliver scalable back-office solutions in financial services Solid experience in microservices and cloud-based environments (preferably HCS), working with distributed systems Hands-on exposure to DevOps and SDLC tools including GitLab, Jira, Nexus, JUnit, SonarQube, Docker, Kafka, and Kubernetes Proficient in Spring Boot, Hibernate, GaussDB, and Linux scripting for building robust enterprise applications Prior experience in financial services or other regulated industries, particularly within compliance-driven environments Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent communication skills in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English to collaborate across teams About this company: A leading financial market infrastructure organisation in Asia operates exchange and clearing services across equities and derivatives within a highly regulated environment.
