About the role Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in securing future work by preparing accurate and competitive tenders. Working closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and site teams, you'll help develop tender strategies, identify project risks and opportunities, and ensure submissions reflect the high standard DML Construction is known for. Key responsibilities Preparing accurate estimates and cost plans for commercial construction projects Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation Completing quantity take-offs Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations Reviewing scopes, exclusions and commercial risks Preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation Assisting with tender handovers to the delivery team Maintaining estimating databases, labour allowances and historical cost information Contributing ideas that improve estimating systems and tender processes About you Experience estimating commercial construction projects A sound understanding of construction methodology and sequencing The ability to identify risks, opportunities and pricing gaps Strong analytical and negotiation skills Excellent attention to detail Good communication and relationship-building skills Confidence using Microsoft Excel Experience with estimating software (RAVE experience would be an advantage but isn't essential) About us DML Construction is a locally family-owned company proud to deliver quality commercial construction projects across Whanganui and the lower North Island.
