About the Role Sequal Lumber seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a highly skilled tradesperson who can provide technical guidance, mentor and coach team members, and actively contribute to the maintenance and reliability of our manufacturing operations. There is a requirement to work two weekends of a month, following a four day on three days off roster. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring plant reliability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement while fostering a strong safety and performance culture within the team. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned, preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment. Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support for complex mechanical issues. Mentor, coach, and develop Maintenance Fitters, apprentices, and other team members to build capability and technical competence. Lead by example in promoting safe work practices and adherence to company policies and procedures. Assist with maintenance planning, scheduling, and prioritisation of work to minimise downtime. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction. Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures. Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to optimise plant performance. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation within the maintenance management system. Participate in the after-hours call-out roster as required. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A recognised trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in industrial maintenance within manufacturing, processing, timber, pulp and paper, or similar heavy industrial environments. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment. Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and developing maintenance personnel. The ability to provide technical leadership while remaining actively involved in hands-on maintenance activities. Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills. A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning processes would be advantageous.
