Position Overview We are looking for a System Development Engineer to support the development, testing, and continuous improvement of our humidity control system platform, monitoring system, control logic, and equipment integration. This role is suitable for someone who is interested in both software development and real-world engineering systems . The work is not limited to coding only. You will also be involved in understanding equipment operation, sensor data, communication protocols, system testing, troubleshooting, and practical customer applications. You will work closely with the engineering, technical service, sales support, and management teams to develop practical solutions that improve how our humidity control systems are monitored, controlled, maintained, and supported. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to build technical capability across software, IoT, equipment communication, and system integration while working with real industrial and commercial applications. Roles, Responsibilities and Opportunities to Learn 1. System Development & Platform Support Assist in the development and improvement of monitoring and control systems for humidity control equipment. Support the development of dashboards, data logging, alarm functions, reports, and user interface features. Assist in backend, frontend, database, or system logic development based on project needs. Help improve internal tools used for equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance support, and customer service. Support testing, debugging, and validation of system functions before deployment. Participate in the continuous improvement of system usability, reliability, and performance. 2. Equipment Communication & Integration Assist in integrating equipment, sensors, controllers, gateways, and industrial devices into the monitoring and control system. Support communication testing using RS485, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, or other related protocols. Help check communication mapping, data accuracy, device response, alarm status, and system stability. Work with suppliers and internal teams to clarify technical communication requirements. Support the connection between physical equipment and software platforms. Learn how equipment behaviour, sensor readings, and control signals are translated into useful system data. 3. Testing, Troubleshooting & Documentation Carry out functional testing for monitoring, control, alarm, reporting, and dashboard features. Assist in troubleshooting communication issues, sensor readings, system errors, data mismatch, or control logic problems. Prepare test records, technical notes, user guides, system documentation, and handover information. Support site testing, commissioning, and system verification when required. Follow up on issues until they are properly resolved. Help ensure system changes are properly tested, recorded, and communicated to the relevant teams. 4. Cross-Functional Technical Support Work together with engineering, technical service, sales support, and management teams. Support technical discussions related to system functions, equipment operation, customer requirements, and project implementation. Assist in preparing technical information for internal use, customer support, proposals, or project handover. Help improve product and system reliability through feedback from actual field applications. Participate in continuous improvement of the company’s system development direction. Contribute ideas on how software, data, equipment communication, and service support can be better connected. Requirements Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, IoT, Robotics, or a related field. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates with 1–2 years of experience in software development, automation, IoT, system integration, industrial communication, equipment control, or technical support will have an advantage. Basic knowledge or strong interest in programming, system development, databases, dashboards, control systems, or equipment communication. Familiarity with RS485, Modbus, PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, Linux, Node-RED, Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C/C++, MySQL, InfluxDB, or Grafana will be an added advantage. Able or willing to learn how to understand technical information, wiring diagrams, system flow, equipment operation, and communication mapping. Able to communicate clearly in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin will be an added advantage. Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn. Responsible, self-disciplined, and able to follow up on tasks. Comfortable working with both software and physical equipment. Willing to support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities when required. Skills & Attributes Curious and interested in learning how real engineering systems work. Practical and hands-on, not limited to only office-based software work. Willing to troubleshoot problems step by step. Able to think logically and analyse issues from both software and equipment perspectives. Careful in testing, checking data, and documenting results. Responsible in follow-up and task completion. Comfortable working with engineers, technicians, suppliers, and internal teams. Willing to ask questions, learn, test, and improve. Interested in long-term product development, system development, and technical solution building. Able to adapt to a developing system environment where some solutions need to be built and improved progressively. What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience in developing monitoring, control, and data-driven systems for real humidity control equipment. Exposure to IoT, equipment communication, sensors, gateways, dashboards, alarms, reports, and system integration. Practical understanding of how software connects with physical equipment and real customer applications. Opportunity to learn RS485, Modbus, control logic, data logging, troubleshooting, system testing, and field application. Experience working with real industrial and commercial environments where system reliability matters. Mentorship and direct collaboration with engineering, technical, software, and management teams. Involvement in product improvement and practical engineering solution development. Opportunity to grow from supporting system development into taking greater ownership of platform features, testing, documentation, and system improvement

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
