Ko wai mātou - About Education Payroll Rārangi Utu ā-Mātauranga - Education Payroll is a Crown entity that delivers pay to schools and kura on behalf of the Ministry of Education. With around 200 employees, we deliver one of the largest and most complex payrolls in Australasia. The combination of great people and cutting-edge technology enable us to pay around 100,000 teachers and support staff across around 2,500 schools accurately and on time every fortnight. Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the roles We are recruiting multiple permanent and fixed term (6 month) Payroll Advisor positions to complete two separate pieces of work. Permanent positions: ideal start date mid to late September. Fixed term positions: ideal start date first week of October through to 25 March 2027. Initially you will complete onboarding training and begin with some data entry tasks. Further training will be provided as your understanding, and capabilities grow in the role. Over time you will gain valuable experience in the wider work we do and the systems we use to support the accurate and timely processing of the school’s payroll. What you’ll be responsible for updating data in the system independently ensuring data accuracy following guides and support materials provided maintaining confidentiality and accurate record keeping accurate processing of payroll instructions supporting customers with their requests and queries Kōrero mōu - About you To set you up for success you should be able to demonstrate you: have a basic understanding of maths, and can use, understand, and reason with numbers can think critically and use sound judgment when making decisions can review, evaluate and escalate when working through problems have a high level of care and empathy for customers have an eye for detail and can work independently are comfortable learning new processes, systems and software can multitask and prioritise work Experience, which is beneficial, but not essential includes: a relevant tertiary qualification experience in payroll and payroll systems data entry experience call centre experience Ko tā mātou mahi | We Offer If successful, you’ll be appointed at $61,816 per annum. Our office is in central Wellington, close to the train station for an easy commute. We primarily work in office with the possibility to work from home up to two days a week, after your training period and when demonstrating your competence in the role. Our teams are made up of payroll experts with decades of experience, who will support you on your learning journey.
