About the role 2 Cheap Cars is one of New Zealand's largest importers and retailers of used vehicles, and we are looking for an experienced Retail Fixed Operations Manager to take ownership of everything that happens once a vehicle leaves our forecourt. This is a broad, hands-on operational leadership role covering branch returns, claims, parts, reconditioning overflow, and quality control, with a genuine opportunity to help shape the next phase of our fixed operations business. What you will be doing • Managing branch returns, including quality issues, remedy and repair work, WOF updates, and our mobile mechanic team. • Owning claims management end-to-end, including claims repairs, Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal matters, budget performance, and work-in-progress efficiency. • Managing parts stocking, obsolescence risk, cost control, and order controls, while modernising our parts systems and processes. • Overseeing reconditioning overflow work (repairs expected to exceed 48 hours), including sublets, supplier management, diagnosis and repair, and cost control. • Partnering with our Compliance and Reconditioning teams to lift quality control standards and reduce quality exceptions and claims, balancing cost against risk. • Working with our Chief Operating Officer to explore a new retail workshop capability, including service plans, customer retention, and warranty repair handling. What we are looking for • Minimum five years of experience in a fixed operations, aftersales, service, parts, or warranty/claims leadership role within an automotive dealership, importer, or similar high-volume retail operations. • Must be resilient and solutions-driven. • A track record managing claims, disputes, or tribunal processes. • Strong parts inventory and supplier management experience. • Confidence managing budgets and KPIs, with sound commercial judgement around cost versus risk. • Experience leading technical or field-based staff. • A relevant automotive trade qualification is essential; a tertiary qualification in business or operations management is an advantage. • Due to the hands-on nature of the role, a very high vehicle diagnostic ability would be required. • Must have a valid New Zealand driver's licence. What we offer • A senior, high-impact operational role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. • The opportunity to build and modernise systems across parts, claims, and quality control. • Involvement in a genuine business growth initiative, the 2 Cheap Cars retail workshop. • A fast-paced environment with one of New Zealand's leading used vehicle retailers. • Permanent, full-time employment, with a minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed. How to apply If this sounds like your next role, we would like to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and a short cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
