You can find more about ACC and the work we do at www.acc.co.nz About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and operating ACC's continuous delivery capability while helping shape the future of DevOps across the organisation. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives, contribute to DevOps strategy and standards, provide technical leadership across GitHub and CI/CD platforms, influence architecture and engineering direction, and support the development of DevOps capability within ACC. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enabling secure, reliable and scalable technology solutions that contribute to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between. The appointing salary for this role is $101,287 - $131,077 based on experience. About you | Mōu You will bring: Demonstrated success in a senior DevOps engineering role, leading the design, implementation and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code solutions within complex enterprise environments. Strong technical expertise across GitHub, Azure, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes and modern source control practices. Experience driving DevOps standards, engineering patterns, continuous improvement initiatives and platform capability uplift. Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills with a focus on quality, reliability and operational excellence. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across technical and business audiences. Experience working within Agile delivery environments and modern software engineering practices. A relevant tertiary qualification that will be validated as part of the recruitment process. Demonstrated understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in organisational settings. You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
