About Morgan Project Services Morgan Project Services (MPS) are experienced construction and insurance consultants, managing insurance claims across New Zealand. About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. Working closely with our Project Managers, Team Leaders and Operations team, you will take ownership of the MPS Schedule of Rates and pricing framework. Your primary focus will be maintaining accurate market rates, reviewing contractor pricing, supporting tender evaluations and ensuring pricing consistency across the business. You will play a key role in supporting Project Managers by reviewing tenders, validating repair costs, preparing commercial assessments and maintaining the integrity of our pricing systems. You will also provide market insights and reporting to support strategic discussions with insurers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating and pricing processes. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of the New Zealand construction industry who enjoys analysing costs, improving pricing consistency and working collaboratively to achieve quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the MPS Schedule of Rates. Monitor labour, material and subcontractor pricing across New Zealand to ensure rates remain accurate and reflective of current market conditions. Research specialist pricing, validate and implement updates to building rates, pricing and terminology within the MPS rates database. Compile, analyse and utilise contractor pricing data to maintain accurate regional market rates. Manage Project Manager support requests relating to rates, including creating new parts, maintaining pricing data and applying approved rates. Review contractor quotations and tenders against the MPS Schedule of Rates and identify pricing variances. Prepare tender comparison reports and commercial assessments to support Project Managers during contractor selection and negotiations. Support Project Managers with tender reviews, contractor pricing discussions and validation of repair costs. Prepare accurate repair estimates and commercial assessments for residential and commercial insurance claims where required. Produce reporting and market analysis demonstrating that MPS pricing remains competitive and aligned with current market conditions. Provide pricing recommendations and commercial support to Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of insurance claims. Engage with Project Managers and contractors to encourage ongoing feedback and continuous improvement of the MPS Schedule of Rates. Liaise with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve pricing queries. Ensure estimating and pricing activities comply with company standards and insurer service level agreements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, pricing systems and commercial practices. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Project Managers, contractors, suppliers, insurers and internal stakeholders. Help improve our tender review, cost validation and variation approval processes. Understand and interpret relevant contracts and ensure commercial activities meet our contractual and insurer requirements. Be comfortable communicating directly with customers and insureds where required. Have the capability to manage claims or projects when needed. What We're Looking For Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline. 2–5 years' Quantity Surveying, estimating or commercial construction experience within New Zealand. Strong knowledge of labour, material and subcontractor pricing across the New Zealand construction industry. Experience reviewing contractor quotations, tenders and repair estimates. Excellent understanding of residential construction methods and repair techniques. Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn construction and pricing software. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience within the insurance reinstatement industry is advantageous but not essential.
