Stone Fabricator – Fabrication & On-Site Installation Tauranga | Full-time | 40 hours per week | Workshop & on-site work About the role We're an established, high-end stone cladding and fabrication business based in Tauranga, and we're looking for a Stone Fabricator to join our team. You'll cut, shape, finish, and install New Zealand natural stone for architectural features including benchtops, vanity units, hearths, and boulders — work that ends up in some of the country’s best residential and commercial builds. This role blends machine-based fabrication with traditional hand-crafted skill, plus hands-on installation work using a range of lifting and handling methods. If you take pride in precise, high-quality work and enjoy a physical, hands-on trade, we want to hear from you. We'll train the right person Experience as a stonemason or fabricator is a bonus, but it's not essential. We're just as interested in people with good literacy and numeracy, or basic construction industry skills, who are keen to learn and develop into the role. What matters most is your attitude, reliability, and willingness to get stuck in. What you'll be doing ● Reading drawings and specifications to work out dimensions, patterns, and finishes and selecting stone. ● Preparing templates, laying out, and marking stone for cutting. ● Fabricating pieces using machinery (bridge saw, CNC/stone router, edge polisher, grinder) and hand tools (chisels, hammers, rasps, mallets). ● Cutting, shaping, jointing, and finishing stone to spec, including sealants and finishing treatments. ● Preparing pieces for installation, including lifting plans and safe handling. ● On-site installation using manual placement, mechanical aids, suction lifters, clamps, mortar/epoxy setting, and shims. ● Working closely with project managers and architects to get the fit and finish right. What you'll need ● Minimum level 2 English and Maths. ● A full NZ driver's licence — applicants without one won't be considered. ● Experience operating a CNC machine is highly desirable (but not essential). ● Good physical fitness and stamina — you'll be on your feet, lifting, and working in tight spots. ● An eye for detail and pride in doing quality work. ● Solid problem-solving skills to find practical solutions to architectural and client designs. ● Excellent communication skills, reliability, and punctuality are essential! Important You must already be able to work in New Zealand — we're unable to consider applicants who require visa sponsorship. Due to the high volume of applications, we expect, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Ready to build a trade you can be proud of? Apply now.
