Responsibilities Architecture and platform evolution Work closely with the Solution Architect on system design and platform evolution Contribute to architecture decisions, design patterns, and standards Ensure API contract quality, versioning, and backward compatibility Support the adoption of event-driven architecture and scalable system design Development and delivery activities Design and implement scalable, resilient, and efficient backend solutions Translate architectural direction into concrete designs and implementation plans Own the technical delivery of the Core platform sprint by sprint Help with the work assignment during sprint planning Help remove bottlenecks and manage technical dependencies Provide technical guidance to developers and promote teamwork Participate actively in coding activities (APIs, event-driven services, integrations, SDKs) Oversee system deployment activities and release readiness Ensure that technical documentation is adequate and up to date Production support and maintenance Ensure that platform components run reliably in production Ensure that issues and exceptions are monitored and addressed promptly Ensure that Service Desk support is adequate and SLAs are met Compliance and quality excellence Establish coding principles and best practices and ensure that developers adhere to them Perform regular code reviews and provide feedback Monitor and follow up on platform performance and third-party tools Optimize code and improve system performance when required Ensure compliance with IS27001 and security best practices Lead the Core squad Mentor developers and support their progression Appraise team members Manage leave requests Recruit new developers and manage the on-boarding process Encourage regular trainings and identify relevant learning opportunities Requirements · 10+ years of backend software development experience, with 5+ years leading a team · Strong skills in Java (Spring Boot), Node.js, REST API design, and SQL · Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka / Confluent) · Solid cloud-native experience (AWS and/or Azure, containers, CI/CD) · Experience with PostgreSQL, Docker/Kubernetes, and observability tools · Strong problem-solving skills · Good interpersonal and communication skills · Pragmatic and self-driven mindset · Fluent in English · Architect mindset — understanding of scalability, maintainability, and system design · Insurance or fintech background is a plus
