Quantity Surveyor – Plumbing & Drainage (Mandarin & English Speaking)

About the role Based in Auckland CBD fringe, one of my clients is an well established and growing plumbing and drainage contractor delivering residential, multi-unit housing, subdivision and light-commercial projects across the Auckland region. This full-time Quantity Surveyor – Plumbing & Drainage (Mandarin & English Speaking) role is responsible for managing project estimating, tendering, cost control, variations, progress claims and commercial reporting. Working closely with the management, project delivery and site teams, you will help ensure projects are accurately priced, commercially controlled and successfully delivered from tender stage through to final account. This opportunity may suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Plumbing or Mechanical Estimator, or Contracts Administrator who has strong construction commercial experience and is ready to take greater ownership of project financial performance. What you’ll be doing Review drawings, specifications and tender documents and prepare accurate labour, material and subcontractor cost estimates Complete quantity take-offs, bills of quantities, project budgets, tender submissions and quotation schedules Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, identifying scope gaps, exclusions, qualifications and commercial risks Monitor project costs, labour hours, material usage, committed expenditure, cashflow and forecast project margins Prepare and submit progress claims, variations, payment schedules and final accounts with clear supporting documentation Maintain variation registers, cost reports, purchase orders, contracts and other project commercial records Identify potential cost overruns, scope changes and commercial risks early and recommend practical corrective actions Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to support efficient project delivery Provide regular project cost and commercial performance reports to management Support improvements to estimating, procurement, cost-control and commercial-management processes What you’ll bring A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Economics or a related discipline At least 2 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, estimating, contract administration or construction commercial management Experience within plumbing, drainage, hydraulic services, mechanical services, civil works or construction subcontracting is strongly preferred Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation Practical experience in estimating, tendering, variations, progress claims, cost reporting and final accounts Good understanding of construction labour, materials, supplier pricing and subcontractor cost management Professional communication skills in both Mandarin and English to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and the confidence to identify and follow up commercial issues Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving contracting environment A valid New Zealand driver licence and the ability to travel to Auckland project sites when required Why consider this opportunity This is a great opportunity to join a growing construction business with a strong pipeline of plumbing, drainage and residential development projects.
