This isn't a role where you quietly update a spreadsheet once a quarter. It's a seat inside the engine room of a major regulatory infrastructure business — where the numbers you build feed directly into a large-scale submission, and the scrutiny is real. This is a 12-month contract with a major regulated heavy asset business, supporting a significant a project. You'll report to a Senior Finance Business Partner and work at the intersection of finance, operations, delivery, and technology teams, translating business-unit data into the inputs that drive the model. You'll be stepping in during a high-intensity phase of the project, in the lead-up to a major submission. Immediate start. What the role looks like Business partner across a whole-of-business regulatory project — working with operational, delivery, and technology teams to build out a long-term investment pipeline. Translate business-unit cost and project data into regulatory model inputs, feeding a major submission Apply a due diligence mindset to the numbers — questioning whether they stack up, not just running with what you're given. Support senior leadership and external stakeholder engagement with clear, well-modelled numbers and analysis. Work closely with a broader regulation and strategy team as the program scope continues to mature. Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making through a high-intensity period. Build strong working relationships across the business to source and validate the data behind the model. What you'll need Solid experience as a finance business partner, ideally with exposure to a regulated asset business (energy, water, telco, or similar) — this is highly regarded Excellent financial modelling skills — comfortable building, updating, and interrogating complex Excel models. A due diligence mindset — comfortable challenging numbers and asking the hard questions before they go up the line. An understanding of regulatory frameworks in a capital-intensive, regulated environment; an accounting background helps but isn't the main game. A hands-on approach — happy to work directly with the business to chase down, extract, and validate data. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — confident presenting to executives and external stakeholders. Solid time management — able to juggle competing priorities through a high-intensity project phase. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline; CA, CPA, or CIMA highly regarded.
