The External and Alumni Relations Team of the HKUST Business School (the School) is recruiting an Assistant Manager, Social Media and Digital Marketing to strengthen the School’s brand presence and digital engagement across key stakeholder communities. The appointee will help shape and execute social media strategies, produce compelling bilingual content, and translate School achievements into engaging stories across digital channels. This role calls for a creative, hands-on and digitally savvy communicator with strong experience in social media management, content development in both English and Chinese visual storytelling, short-form video production, and the use of data and AI-enabled tools to enhance content effectiveness. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written and design test. Major Responsibilities Develop and implement social media content plans to enhance the School’s visibility, reputation and engagement across key platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook Curate and coordinate the production of reels, short videos and other visual content tailored for different social media channels and audience segments; hands-on editing ability would be an advantage Create engaging bilingual content, including social media posts, achievement stories, captions, publicity copy, images and short-form video materials Apply audience insights, performance data and, where appropriate, AI-enabled tools to support content ideation, adaptation, scheduling and optimization Monitor social media trends, stakeholder interests and platform developments, including emerging opportunities on social media platforms in both English and Chinese. Track and report social media performance, web traffic and engagement metrics, and recommend improvements to strengthen campaign effectiveness Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external writers, designers, photographers, videographers and vendors on marketing, branding and digital communications initiatives Support University-wide and School-based events and activities through timely social media coverage and post-event content development Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Linguistics, Design, New Media or a relevant field At least 5 years of relevant work experience in social media, digital marketing, content creation, marketing, branding or communications Proven track record in managing social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, including content planning, production, posting, community engagement and performance monitoring Familiarity with Chinese-language social media platforms such as Xiaohongshu and WeChat would be an advantage Strong ability to curate and develop creative content, including copy, images, reels, short videos and other visual presentation formats; hands-on production experience would be an advantage Hands-on experience in using AI-enabled tools and managing multiple social media channels Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, graphic design software and photo/video editing tools Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics and social media performance analytics Up-to-date with the latest digital marketing technologies, AI applications, social media trends and audience engagement practices Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Excellent communication, multitasking, stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills, a strong team-player who can also work independently and take initiative and manage multiple deadlines Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese’ proficiency in Putonghua (Mandarin) is an advantage. (Duration: 2 years, renewable) Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
