Solution Architect -Retail Technology

Uni-China (Business) Management Ltd. Role Summary The Solution Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving the technology infrastructure that powers our retail operations. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that our systems are scalable, secure, and resilient enough to handle peak-season traffic spikes and real-time inventory demands. You will work closely with development teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders to define the technical roadmap. Key Responsibilities 1. Architecture Strategy & Design · Define and document the overall system architecture, including microservices, APIs, data flows, and integrations between core retail systems. · Design scalable cloud-native solutions (AWS/Azure/Ali-Cloud) to support high-traffic e-commerce, Point of Sale (POS) processing, and Order Management Systems (OMS). · Lead the technical design for omnichannel integrations (e.g., Buy Online, Pick Up in Store - BOPIS; Endless Aisle). · Establish architectural standards, patterns (e.g., Event-Driven Architecture), and best practices for the engineering teams. 2. Performance & Scalability · Ensure the system architecture supports high availability (99.99% uptime) and can handle seasonal traffic surges (e.g., CNY, Christmas,). · Implement robust caching strategies, database sharding, and load balancing to optimize performance. · Proactively identify bottlenecks in the current systems (legacy ERP, WMS, POS) and design migration paths to modern architectures. 3. Security & Compliance · Ensure all systems adhere to PCI-DSS standards for payment processing. · Design secure authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth2, SAML) to protect customer and employee data. · Implement data encryption strategies (at rest and in transit) and disaster recovery plans. 4. Integration & Data Management · Architect the integration layer connecting the E-commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento) with backend ERP (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and WMS (Warehouse Management). · Define the data strategy for real-time inventory visibility across all channels. · Oversee the setup of data pipelines for analytics and business intelligence (BI). 5. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management · Collaborate with product manager to translate business requirements into technical specifications. · Mentor senior developers and lead code reviews for architectural compliance. · Evaluate and recommend third-party vendors and technology stacks (build vs. buy decisions). · Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (Executives, Store Operations, Marketing). Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field. · 6+ years of experience in software development and solution architecture (At least 2+ years specifically in the Retail industry). · Proven experience migrating legacy on-premises systems to cloud-native microservices. Technical Skills · Cloud Platforms: AWS (Preferred), Azure, or GCP (Certification is a plus). · Programming: Proficiency in modern languages (Java, C#, Python). · Databases: Deep knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis). · Integration: Experience with API Gateways, Kafka/RabbitMQ, and RESTful/GraphQL design. · DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). · Retail Tech Stack: Knowledge of POS systems, OMS, WMS, and CMS platforms. Soft Skills · Strategic thinking with a balance between "perfect design" and "business speed." · Strong problem-solving skills, especially regarding high-transaction environments. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
