Applications are invited for: Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering Research Assistant(s) (carrying the job title of ‘Assistant AI Researcher’) (Ref: 2600019W) (Closing Date: August 30, 2026) Launched in 2019 by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with funding support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the CUHK Jockey Club AI for the Future Project aims to mainstream AI education and foster a sustainable AI education ecosystem across Hong Kong secondary schools. The Project continues to empower educators, elevate community AI literacy, and prepare the next generation for an AI-driven future. To keep pace with exponential technological growth, the Project is comprehensively revitalizing its curriculum to integrate cutting-edge development, with a primary focus on equipping students with essential skills in Generative AI (Gen AI), AI workflows, and ethical system design. The Project is recruiting Research Assistant(s) to assist in curriculum development and teacher professional development. Applicants should have/be (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or related disciplines; (ii) a strong grasp of artificial intelligence knowledge (e.g. deep learning, transformer); (iii) experience in developing/training/applying AI models; (iv) proficiency in programming (e.g. Python, C/C++, Java); (v) proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Mandarin); (vi) responsible, detail-oriented and punctual; and (vii) following desirable attributes: (1) be passionate in or have prior experience in teaching, curriculum development, or writing; (2) have strong teaching and presentation skills; and (3) have prior research experience in AI, computer science, or education. The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) developing educational materials on AI for junior secondary students, including textbooks; (b) preparing presentation slides, multimedia content, exercises and other resources; (c) developing software and hardware tools to support hands-on learning activities; (d) designing and delivering training workshops for educators and students; (e) gathering and analysing feedback on the curriculum; (f) providing assistance in on-going interdisciplinary research related to AI and education; and (g) performing other tasks as assigned. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
