As an island State, Tasmania relies on its marine ports and airports to facilitate trade and tourism, and to support Tasmania’s diverse and vibrant communities. TasPorts plays a critical role for the State – managing 11 maritime ports plus Devonport Airport – connecting people, products and solutions for the benefit of all Tasmanians. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical role at TasPorts, leading the organisation’s financial strategy, governance, performance and operations. The role will drive strategic initiatives designed to improve performance, enhance organisational capability and strengthen operational efficiency. The role will preferably be based in Launceston. The CFO will act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the CEO, Executive Leadership team and Board, providing commercial and financial insight to support sound decision-making and long-term financial sustainability. With oversight of Corporate Services and the corporate planning function, the CFO will foster a high-performance team culture, driving collaboration, accountability, business optimisation and enterprise-wide thinking. The successful applicant will demonstrate advanced financial management capability, commercial acumen and relevant tertiary qualifications. They will bring extensive senior leadership experience gained in a complex customer focused, and preferably asset intensive organisation, together with proven success in organisation change, business improvement and building high performance teams. Experience working within, or closely with, a government or government business enterprise environment – including engagement with Treasury, shareholder representatives and Boards – will be a distinct advantage. Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, will be critical to the success. It is an exciting time of transformation for TasPorts.
