Surveyor (FIFO & Metro opportunities) FIFO (2:1 or 2:2 rosters available) + Metro Opportunities Full-Time Permanent Position Immediate start available Overview Our client is a leading Australian civil engineering contractor, recognised for delivering innovative and high-quality solutions across the defence, infrastructure, resources, and energy sectors. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to join their high-performing team across a range of metro and FIFO projects throughout Western Australia. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale projects while enjoying long-term job security, career progression, and flexible roster options. Key Responsibilities Conduct field surveys including set-out, measurements, elevations, and alignment checks Interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and technical specifications Operate and calibrate survey equipment including GPS, total stations, and laser scanners Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure project accuracy Prepare survey reports, documentation, and as-built drawings Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements Assist with planning, risk assessments, and troubleshooting survey-related issues onsite Maintain accurate records and deliver survey data in a timely manner Candidate Requirements Tertiary qualification in Surveying, Engineering, or related discipline Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar role within the civil and/or mining sectors in WA Strong experience using GPS, total stations, and modern surveying technologies Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation Proficiency with survey software and data processing tools Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills High attention to detail with strong problem-solving capability Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements Previous FIFO experience highly regarded Current driver's licence and ability to pass pre-employment medicals Full Australian working rights are essential What's On Offer Base salary $116K - $157K (dependent on experience) Site uplift up to 30% depending on roster Flexible metro, 2:1, or 2:2 roster options Long-term permanent employment with genuine career progression Discounted private health insurance (HBF & Medibank) Annual flu vaccinations Novated leasing options Employee referral program Service recognition initiatives Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family If you are an experienced Engineering Surveyor seeking your next long-term opportunity across major WA projects, we would love to hear from you. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
