Public practice experience essential Your new company An established and highly regarded professional services firm is seeking an experienced Senior Business Services Accountant to join their Melbourne CBD team on an initial 6-month contract. Your new role This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong public practice accountant who enjoys managing engagements from start to finish. You'll work across a diverse client portfolio, providing accounting, taxation, compliance and advisory support while delivering high-quality outcomes across a range of entity structures. The Role Working as part of a collaborative and highly professional team, your responsibilities will include: Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs Managing accounting and taxation engagements from commencement through to completion Preparing BAS, IAS, FBT returns and other statutory lodgements Coordinating ASIC annual reviews, company changes and corporate compliance requirements Completing technical taxation work, including CGT and Division 7A calculations Liaising with the ATO, ASIC and other regulatory bodies Supporting AML/CTF compliance requirements and customer due diligence activities Undertaking taxation research and providing practical, commercially focused advice Maintaining high-quality working papers and technical documentation Delivering exceptional client service and building trusted relationships What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will possess: CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion) Minimum 5 years' experience within Australian public practice Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation SMSF experience Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types Proven experience managing ATO and ASIC compliance obligations Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality What you'll get in return Initial 6-month contract opportunity Potential go to permanent Melbourne CBD location Diverse client base and interesting technical work Supportive and collaborative professional environment Opportunity to add immediate value within a respected firm What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to john.summers@hays.com.au , or call us now.
