The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for leading and managing the overall sales operations and business performance across the assigned territory in Sarawak, covering Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri. The role requires close collaboration with distributors, sales representatives, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure sales growth, market expansion, inventory optimization, and smooth supply chain execution. The candidate must possess strong FMCG commercial experience, distributor management capability, and operational knowledge in demand forecasting, inventory planning, and inbound shipment coordination to support efficient product availability across multiple depots. Key Responsibilities Manage and drive overall sales performance, market share, and profitability within across Sarawak region. Monitor distributor operational efficiency and ensure adequate market coverage by sales teams. Take charge of business operations across multiple depots in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri. Execute demand forecasting and sales planning to ensure healthy stock availability. Manage inventory planning and stock movement at distributor level to minimize stock shortages and overstock situations. Liaise with supply chain, logistics providers, forwarding agents, and warehouse teams regarding shipment schedules and delivery timelines. Monitor shipment lead times, container arrivals, unloading schedules, and stock transfers between depots. Monitor distributor inventory turnover, stock holding, and operational efficiency. Conduct regular market visits, joint fieldwork, and performance coaching sessions. Monitor sales force productivity, route planning, and execution quality. Monitor sales KPIs, analyse market trends, identify business opportunities, and competitor activities. Mandatory Skill Sets: Strong distributor management experience in FMCG environment. Hands-on experience in demand forecasting and sales planning. Solid supply chain and logistics knowledge, particularly in handling inbound shipments and stock replenishment. Experience in inventory management at distributor/depot level. Ability to manage geographically scattered operations effectively. Requirements Minimum Diploma/Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field. At least 5 years of FMCG sales experience with 3 years in a managerial role. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting analysis. Willing to travel frequently within Sarawak.
