Reinforcing Steel Detailer

About the role The Reinforcing Steel Detailer is responsible for producing accurate and complete reinforcing steel drawings and bending schedules for all Davies Contractors Limited projects. Working from structural engineering drawings and specifications, this role ensures that reinforcing steel is detailed correctly, on time, and in accordance with New Zealand standards, enabling site teams to place steel efficiently and without error. Key responsibilities Read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications to produce accurate reinforcing steel drawings and bending schedules Produce bar mark schedules, cutting lists, and placement drawings for all projects Check all detailing work for accuracy, compliance with NZ standards Liaise with structural engineers, the Project Manager, and site teams to clarify design intent and resolve detailing queries Manage detailing workload across multiple projects to meet programme deadlines Maintain accurate and well-organised records of all drawings, revisions, and correspondence Incorporate design changes and engineer's revisions promptly and accurately Support the Project Manager with material quantity estimates and project planning as required Contribute to continuous improvement of detailing processes and documentation About you Minimum 3 years' experience in reinforcing steel detailing Proficient in 2D or 3D detailing software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or similar) Sound knowledge of NZ reinforcing standards including NZS 3101 (Concrete Structures Standard) and AS/NZS 4671 (Steel Reinforcing Materials) Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications Strong attention to detail and accuracy – essential for producing error-free bending schedules and drawings Full New Zealand driver licence First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) Experience working within the NZ construction industry (preferred) About us Davies Contractors Limited is a construction company operating in New Zealand.
