Class 4 Vacuum Tanker Operator

This is a varied, hands-on role operating modern vacuum trucks while providing essential services throughout the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago regions. From septic tanks and grease traps to hydro excavation, emergency call-outs and commercial liquid waste services, you'll be part of a team that keeps the region running. About the Role This is a permanent, full-time position that offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work across all areas of our liquid waste operation. You'll operate a range of modern Class 4 vacuum trucks while carrying out scheduled servicing, emergency call-outs and specialist services for residential, commercial and civil clients. No two days are the same, and you'll work both independently and alongside an experienced team. Key Responsibilities Operate Class 4 vacuum trucks safely and efficiently. Service septic tanks, holding tanks and pump stations. Empty and maintain grease traps. Carry out commercial and industrial liquid waste collection. Assist with hydro excavation and vacuum loading work. Complete stormwater and wastewater maintenance. Attend emergency call-outs and participate in the on-call roster. Complete daily vehicle inspections and equipment maintenance. Maintain accurate job records using our digital job management system. Ideally you'll have: A current New Zealand Class 4 licence. Experience operating vacuum trucks or working within the liquid waste, drainage, civil or environmental services industry. A strong work ethic and positive attitude. Good physical fitness. The ability to work independently and within a team. Excellent communication and customer service skills. A commitment to health and safety. Flexibility to participate in the on-call roster and respond to after-hours call-outs. Experience in hydro excavation, drainage or wastewater services is an advantage, but applicants with the right attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
