About the role: Our client requires practical, reliable and process-driven tradesmen for Shipwright/Carpenter roles. This is a temporary role and is expected to start ASAP and run for between 3-9 months. The main duties include: Build keel blocking, cradles, shoring, cribbing, and support structures for vessels Repair, manufacture, and install marine cabinetry, furniture, bulkheads, and deckhead structures Install windows, doors, and interior fit-outs across marine and commercial projects Carry out flooring work (carpet, vinyl, timber, linoleum) Complete insulation and lagging installs, repairs, and removals General carpentry and maintenance work across facilities Assist with docking operations including setting dock blocks and handling lines Work is expected to start in early ASAP. Contracts will be 3 months initially with a high likelihood to extend. About the Company: Our client is a stable, essential service business that is the major provider of engineering services to the marine industry in NZ, operating at NZ’s largest dry dock. They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts. Skills + Experience: For this role, you will have: Solid background in Shipwright, Boatbuilding, Cabinetmaking, or Carpentry Trade qualification (Level 4 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure Good communication skills and a practical, team-focused approach Full Class 1 driver’s licence Clean criminal record Pay + Benefits: Excellent hourly rate + overtime available You'll receive Confined Space Training (tickets will be valid for 3 years) PPE is provided (excluding safety boots, which you will supply) About Tech Trade: Tech Trade is a specialist engineering and trade recruitment company, offering short & long term contract work as well as permanent jobs for skilled candidates.
