About The Company: Our client is an established, multi-national industrial group with a significant presence in the glass packaging industry. They are a key player in their sector, operating through a network of subsidiaries and joint ventures globally. To drive their continued growth and operational excellence in one of their most critical markets, they are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to oversee all aspects of their Asian operations. About The Job: We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Managing Director Asia to take full ownership of the group's entities and Joint Ventures across the region. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for aligning regional strategy with global objectives and overseeing all operational functions including R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Controlling, Quality, and Human Resources. This position requires a leader who can balance high-level strategic vision with hands-on execution, driving performance and profitability across a complex and dynamic landscape. Requirements Responsibilities and Duties: Operational Leadership: Take full P&L responsibility for all group entities and Joint Ventures in the Asia region. Define and align the strategic direction with partners and ensure its seamless translation into day-to-day management execution. Budgeting & Performance: Define comprehensive budgets encompassing Sales, Manufacturing, Production Workforce, R&D Resources, Production Capacity, and Quality Targets. Monitor weekly and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), supervise financial results, and implement corrective actions to achieve budget targets. Strategic Planning: Organize and manage the product plan definition and execution, ensuring it aligns with the group's overarching strategy. Governance & Reporting: Organize and lead quarterly Board of Directors meetings and monthly Management meetings, providing clear and concise reporting to the Group CEO. Client Engagement: Act as a key executive representative, participating actively in critical negotiations with the region's Top 10 customers. Compliance & Risk: Ensure full compliance with all Chinese regulations and manage any associated risks. Talent Management: Foster a high-performance culture, building enthusiasm and passion within the team while effectively managing complex and sometimes ambiguous situations. Profile Requirements Experience: A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in General Management, specifically within the glass packaging industry. Proven experience leading a small to mid-sized company and/or managing a Joint Venture is essential. Education: Must possess a Master’s degree in Engineering and an MBA from a globally recognized Top 5 Business School. Leadership & Autonomy: A hands-on leader who can maintain a strategic view. Demonstrated ability to manage complex situations, make decisive decisions, and lead with authenticity and resilience under stress. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to communicate effectively with all levels, from factory workers to C-level executives and customer CEOs. Must be a confident and serene leader. Languages: Fluency in French, Chinese (Mandarin), and English is mandatory. Work Authorization: Must be willing to be based in Hong Kong and travel extensively (~60%) throughout China and the broader Asia region.
