Key responsibilities Plan and conduct engaging basketball training sessions tailored to different skill levels Teach fundamental basketball techniques, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive strategies Develop training programmes that build physical fitness, coordination, and basketball-specific skills Motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best whilst promoting teamwork and sportsmanship Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance performance Organise and facilitate friendly matches, tournaments, and inter-school competitions Maintain a safe and inclusive training environment by adhering to health and safety protocols What we're looking for Proven experience as a basketball coach or in a similar sports instruction role Demonstrated experience coaching secondary school students / teenagers, preferably in a school or educational setting Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and coaching methodologies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire students Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups and adapt coaching styles to individual learning needs and skill levels Valid and current basketball coaching certification or qualification from a recognised coaching organisation Passion for sports development and commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment Physical fitness and ability to actively demonstrate techniques during training sessions Flexibility and reliability to maintain a consistent part-time schedule Understanding of child safeguarding principles and commitment to duty of care
