Systems & Design Lead — AI Platform (Android)

The Opportunity This is a rare opportunity to shape the AI DNA of a global device brand from the ground up. You will not be building yet another AI app — you will be defining how AI becomes a native, system-level capability across millions of devices shipped worldwide. You will lead the architecture, system design, and end-to-end platform integration of AI experiences across the company's custom Android ecosystem, partnering with hardware, firmware, application, and cloud teams to deliver intelligent, performant, and secure user experiences for the US and global markets. What You'll Do Lead the design of AI-driven features on custom Android devices, taking concepts from whiteboard to mass production. Own the architecture across OS integration, system services, APIs, and device-level AI capabilities. Embed AI into Android frameworks with a relentless focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and power efficiency. Work closely with firmware, application, cloud, and product teams across HK, Shenzhen, and the US to deliver cohesive, differentiated AI experiences. Shape the company's AI platform strategy and contribute to how Generative AI is integrated into both products and the engineering lifecycle. Mentor engineers, lead architectural reviews, and champion best practices across the platform organization. Track global trends in AI device platforms, on-device ML, and emerging Android hardware capabilities to keep the company at the frontier. Role Requirements E xperience in system architecture, platform engineering, or large-scale mobile software design. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Deep Android expertise , including a strong grasp of AOSP, system services, processes, memory management, and OS internals. Strong programming proficiency in Java/Kotlin, C++, and Python . Proven ability to translate complex product requirements into robust, high-performance technical architectures. Hands-on experience building or integrating AI/ML systems on Android — on-device, hybrid, or cloud-assisted. Familiarity with Android internals, system-level software development, and custom ROM optimization. Experience with cross-app automation, intent-based execution, and Android system APIs for agentic workflows. Background in performance tuning, power management, or mobile security design. A genuine passion for platform engineering and the evolution of Generative AI in hardware.
