Job Description Provide strategic leadership and direction for the department by developing operational plans, setting departmental objectives, establishing performance standards, and ensuring effective execution to maximize operational efficiency and organizational performance. Occupational Health, Safety & Health (HSE): Develop, implement, and continuously improve occupational health and safety policies, strategies, and programs in alignment with the Company's vision, mission, and business objectives, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, certified ISO management systems, and international maritime regulations and standards, including IMO, SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, ISPS Code, MLC, OCIMF, and other relevant statutory and industry requirements. Security Management: Direct and oversee corporate security management to ensure the protection of personnel, vessels, assets, facilities, cargo, and transportation operations, including the handling of dangerous goods. Coordinate with government authorities, port authorities, customers, and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable security regulations and industry best practices. Environmental Management: Lead and participate in environmental management initiatives, including emergency preparedness and response exercises related to pollution prevention, oil/chemical spill response, environmental monitoring, and mitigation of environmental impacts arising from maritime transportation, logistics operations, and other company activities. Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and monitor the annual Quality Management Plan, ensuring compliance with the Company's Quality Management System (ISO 9001), corporate policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Develop compliance strategies and ensure full compliance with applicable maritime, local, regional, and international laws, regulations, and industry standards, including IMO, ISM Code, OCIMF, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Oversee regulatory reporting, audits, inspections, and documentation to maintain full compliance. Seafarers Culture & Engagement Leadership: Establish policies and strategic initiatives to foster a strong safety culture and high-performance working environment for seafarers by promoting safety, quality, operational excellence, employee engagement, competency development, and long-term organizational commitment. People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop departmental personnel by setting performance objectives, monitoring performance, providing coaching and guidance, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring the achievement of departmental and organizational goals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering (5-year program), or other related disciplines. Minimum of 3 years' experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality) within the maritime transportation, shipping, offshore, or other related industries. Sound knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), and Occupational Health and Safety Management principles and practices. Good understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, safe working practices, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Holder of a Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner) or equivalent recognized maritime qualification. Certified in Incident Investigation & Analysis training. Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or ISO 45001, or ISM Code Internal Auditor certification is an advantage. Experience in Ship Management within shipping companies, ship management companies, or other maritime organizations is preferred Good command of both written and spoken English.
