About the Role As an Area Sales Engineer in Penang, you will drive smart manufacturing transformation by helping customers adopt more connected and efficient solutions. The role combines new business development, account management, and channel development, focusing on delivering value-based outcomes. You will be responsible for territory strategy, customer engagement, and revenue growth, reporting directly to the Sales Leader in Malaysia. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Sales Execution Develop and execute a territory sales plan targeting high-growth General Industry segments (e.g., data centers, EMS) and Automotive Quality Control Promote Desoutter’s full portfolio: tools, automation, vision systems, process control, and digital solutions 2. Customer & Market Development Identify, develop, and acquire new customers across Malaysia, with a strong focus on the Penang industrial ecosystem Build strong relationships with production, engineering, and management stakeholders 3. Sales Activities & Opportunity Conversion Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, line audits, and solution presentations Convert opportunities into orders by delivering value-based solutions 4. Project & Account Management Support customer projects in collaboration with internal teams Drive long-term account growth and customer retention 5. Channel Development & Collaboration Develop and manage distributor networks where applicable Collaborate closely with service, marketing, and project teams to ensure customer satisfaction 6. Reporting & Performance Provide accurate sales forecasts and activity reports Manage receivables and contribute to overall financial performance Candidate Profile Education Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related field Experience 2–5 years of sales experience in industrial or machinery sectors Experience working with premium industrial solutions is preferred Exposure to Chinese industrial partnerships is an advantage Knowledge Mechanical or electrical engineering knowledge Proficient in MS Office applications Skills Strong presentation and negotiation skills Customer-focused with a solution-selling mindset Language Fluent in English and Malay (spoken & written) Mandarin is an advantage
