The Opportunity: We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our leadership team in a newly created role reporting directly to the COO/CFO. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the finance function during a significant growth phase, helping to build the systems, controls, reporting capability, and processes required to support a scaling global business. You will be a key business partner to the executive team, providing financial insight that supports strategic decision-making and operational performance. About you You are a hands-on finance professional who enjoys understanding the drivers of business performance, from the operational detail through to the strategic big picture. You thrive in a dynamic growth environment, taking initiative and ownership while working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business. You combine strong technical accounting skills with a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to enhance systems, processes, and reporting. Key responsibilities: Lead the day-to-day finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end reporting. Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including BAS, payroll tax, and other reporting requirements. Prepare and deliver timely management reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis. Manage the preparation and consolidation of General Purpose Financial Reports (GPFR) across multiple entities. Partner with the COO/CFO and operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insights and decision support. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency across the finance function. Leverage Xero and integrated business systems to enhance reporting, analysis, and data-driven decision making. Drive finance systems improvements and contribute to building a scalable finance infrastructure. Maintain robust financial controls while supporting business growth and operational efficiency. Assist with annual audits, governance requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. What you will bring: Essential CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification. Demonstrated success leading and developing a small finance team. Experience operating within a multi-entity environment, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and GPFR reporting. Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities. A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously in a growing business environment. Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability. Desirable Experience delivering finance transformation, process improvement, systems implementation, or automation initiatives. Experience with Xero and integrated cloud-based business systems. Previous experience within a high-growth SME, technology, mining services, or industrial business.
