Product Owner

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Roadmap and prioritisation • Own the product roadmap and its sequencing against agreed business milestones. • Scope the initial release ruthlessly to the core loop and defend that scope against feature pressure from every direction, including the founders. • Maintain a prioritised, well-specified backlog in Jira with clear acceptance criteria. Discovery and evidence • Run continuous discovery with employers and workers, and own the structured pre-launch validation programme. • Own commercial-model validation, insisting on evidence from committed spend rather than survey answers. • Translate findings into decisions, and record both the decision and the reasoning behind it. Delivery management • Run the Agile cadence — sprint planning, review and retrospective — with engineering and design. • Manage dependencies across the payments, platform and operations workstreams. • Set the working conventions for an AI-assisted delivery team, including where generated work requires human sign-off before release. Analytics and instrumentation • Define the metric tree — fill rate, time-to-fill, active workers, repeat-employer rate, transaction value, retention, no-show rate — and build the dashboards behind it. • Own product and metrics reporting to the founders and to the board and investor reporting pack. Compliance as product • Ensure that local regulatory requirements affecting platform work — transparency of automated decisions, appeal paths, grievance handling and worker agreements — are specified as product requirements rather than bolted on later. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Education • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics or a related discipline. Work Experience • 4 or more years in product management or product ownership, including at least one product taken from zero to live users. • Demonstrated Agile or Scrum ownership within a working delivery team — certification is useful, evidence of practice matters more. • Has personally built analytical dashboards: can specify the events, query the data and interpret the result without waiting for an analyst. • Two-sided marketplace, on-demand, fintech or HR-tech experience strongly preferred. • Willing and able to do customer discovery in the field, in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Product management Roadmapping and prioritisation frameworks (RICE, opportunity-solution trees, jobs-to-be-done) and genuine minimum-viable-scope discipline. Agile and Scrum practice; fluent administration of Jira, including workflow, board and reporting configuration. User research methods and synthesis. Marketplace and commercial literacy Two-sided platform metrics: liquidity, fill rate, take rate, cohort retention, transaction value and unit economics. Experiment design and interpretation, including the discipline not to over-read a small sample. Analytics SQL to intermediate level, including querying PostgreSQL and Supabase directly rather than through an intermediary. Event instrumentation design; product analytics tooling (Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog) and dashboarding (Metabase, Looker Studio or similar). Technical fluency Enough understanding of the stack — React, React Native, Next.js, Supabase — to hold a credible trade-off conversation with engineers and to size work realistically. Practical use of AI tooling (Claude Cowork, Cursor, Lovable) for specification, prototyping and analysis. Working knowledge of local regulatory requirements affecting platform work, treated as product constraints. Communication Written English of a standard suitable for board and investor-facing material; Bahasa Malaysia for field discovery.
