Join our Macraes operation and live a work in Otago, New Zealand, with its stunning scenery and outdoors lifestyle! There are few residential mines in the world in such an amazing location. Our Open Pit Tecchnical Services team are hiring an additional Mining Engineer as we continue to grow production. The role provides professional mining engineering services to the open cut operation at Macraes. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Produce and distribute engineering designs for the safe and efficient extraction of material. Create stage designs that meet the budget and operational requirements. Make design modifications to pits, dumps, and roads that will improve cashflow and operational efficiency as required. Design blast masters to optimise mining sequence. Design drill patterns to meet operational needs and optimise fragmentation. Assess pit, dump, and road design options and costs, and prepare set out plans for construction as required. Design waste rock stacks and rehabilitation that meet or exceed best practice guidelines. Develop dewatering strategies for existing and new projects. Produce achievable weekly production schedules in line with the monthly forecast. Lead the daily planning meeting to coordinate efficient execution of production schedules. Produce a monthly forecast that considers current operational conditions and budget requirements. Evaluate and advise on the most efficient haulage routes. Monitor and report on schedule variances to inform planning assumptions. Assist Geotechnical Engineer with pit wall and ground stability monitoring and reporting as required. Comply with all safety requirements and observe all company policies and procedures. University degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent. Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred. B-Grade Quarry Manager’s CoC, or ability to obtain one preferred. Two years’ experience working in open pit mining or underground mining. Experience using CAD software in a production environment. High degree of computer literacy, including experience in mine planning software. Experience with MineSight/MinePlan products an advantage. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
