Job Title: Mechanical Development Engineer Key Target of the Job Profile The Mechanical Engineering Development Engineer is responsible for the development of ECU products, sensor products, and subsystems under the EMS team to a defined degree of maturity within the given time and cost frame of the development project by planning, driving, and coordinating all related product engineering activities (i.e., requirements, design, functional simulation, ensuring feasibility, problem solving, and ME release). AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / MAIN TASKS Mechanical Engineering Planning and Tracking: Define, plan, and coordinate the engineering activities to implement all technical requirements given by the customer and stakeholders in the ME subsystem and component design based on a state-of-the-art systems engineering approach Estimate the ME effort and support the cost and budget estimation Mechanical System Engineering and Design: Perform and coordinate stakeholder request analysis and alignment for the ME-relevant requirements Perform and Drive ME Requirements Engineering and ME System Architecture Definition and Functional ME System Design Definition (incl. concept & solution decision, definition of countermeasures) Request engineering tests and consolidate their results; drive functional simulations & analyses and consolidate their results Mechanical Component and Detailed Design Drive structural simulations & analyses and consolidate their results. Drive creation of BOM, proper assembly, component design, and manufacturing documents Ensure manufacturing feasibility of parts and assembly Ensure that Aumovio and product standards are applied Supplier Management and Development from SCR to SOP Close coordination with NPL and industrialization engineers Indian and global customers handling Customer location product fitment check support. ME Integration & Verification Test Ensure traceability of ME requirements to verification & validation test cases Support the Project Test Manager in the definition of ME Integration, verification & validation test concepts, and test cases Product Maturity and Technical Risk Management Constant monitoring of the product maturity for the ME subsystem and support TPL in technical risk management for the ME subsystem Identify and prioritize technical risks for the ME subsystem; define action and risk mitigation plans, and drive and ensure their implementation Plan and drive design FMEA (ME part) creation, maintenance, and review; utilize design FMEA results to define activities for risk mitigation; support FMEA of other disciplines (design FMEA system, process FMEA) Engineering Release Management Create and update ME Release Plan according to the MLC process Drive and ensure release preparation and documentation for ME subsystems and components Track and close release action plans Special Characteristics Drive SC alignment with the customers and all relevant parties Initiate, drive, and ensure the internal SC process." Structured Technical Problem Solving Perform and steer structured problem solving for ME Be able to explain the chain of effects (full responsibility) Required Knowledge: Public and Automotive Standards and Rules, Automotive Systems and Product Know-How, Design Rules, Product Life Cycle (PLC) & Material Life Cycle (MLC), RE Requirements Engineering, SE Systems Engineering, Systems / Product Architecture, CM Configuration Management, Test Management, Mechanical Architecture, Mechanical Design, ME Test Strategy and Methods, ME Manufacturing Processes, ME Verification Methods, Tools and Equipment, Data Management System (CAD-based), Simulation (incl. tools), Project Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Project Planning, Tracking and Reporting, FMEA Failure Mode Effects Analysis, DAR Decision Analysis and Resolution, Structured Problem Solving, Safety Engineering Required Experience. Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar Professional Experience: 7-9 years Project Experience: 3+ years of development project experience in automotive, transportation, aviation, health, or similar industries expected. Technical Leadership (Independent handling) Experience: 3+ years of technical leadership practice in projects, working groups, task forces, or similar is expected.
