The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships. The Medical Division operates 365 days a year on a 24-hour basis with the primary responsibility of overseeing the health and well-being of all members of the service. Medical Division's Behavioral Care and Support Section is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Community Coordinator. The Community Coordinator duties will include but are not limited to: - Performs difficult work in the systematic identification, evaluation, and selection of appropriate Mental Health/Public Safety funding sources (e.g., BJA, COPS). - Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors and/or evaluates programs (e.g., Trauma Counseling Program; Healing Horsemanship Program, Public Safety Officers Benefits Program) that provide or could potentially provide important services to effected UMOS and CMOS. - Prepares evaluation reports, performs analyses and reviews program plans of outside agency's mental health/public safety initiatives for consideration within the Department. - Research, identifies, and evaluates best practice policies and procedures related to the provision of psychological services for Public Safety Personnel. - Plans, implements, develops and coordinates clinical and didactic instruction provided by the Psychological Evaluation Section and/or Counseling Services Unit including case conferences and staff meetings. - Plans, implements, coordinates and participates in the provision of direct contact services to CMOS and UMOS including in-person, telephone, Zoom, and TEAMS meetings. - Participate in trauma debriefings and shadow the on-call Psychologist, clinical Social Worker, and/or Mental Health Counselor. - Conduct and participate in outreach services. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
