Equipment Operator- Stormwater Department - R16277

Sarasota County Government is seeking an Equipment Operator in our Stormwater Department. The person in this role is responsible for the operation of heavy equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utility pipelines, Storm conveyance systems, and appurtenances. Job Description: Transport, operate, and maintain heavy equipment/vehicles and machines such as backhoes, walking excavators, and other related equipment and machines used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and their appurtenances. Perform roadway and right-of-way restoration. Complete and submit work orders. Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years. Preferred Qualifications: Written and hands-on courses in the operation of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and sewer cleaning equipment. Trenching and shoring competent person. Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. *On Call Required. About You Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of one or more pieces of the equipment described herein. Must have a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver License with any endorsements required by the work assignment. A Florida Driver's License at time of hire. About Everything Else Starting Pay Range: $18.05 (Step 1) - $19.71 (Step 4), depending on experience Position Salary Range: $18.05 (Step 1) - $26.50 (Step 14)
