Area 9 exists to perform wildlife management, wildlife education, law enforcement, public service duties in the north-central portion of Colorado in Grand, Summit, Eagle and Routt Counties. The work unit also manages the State Wildlife Areas in the same geographic area to provide wildlife habitat and wildlife recreational opportunities. The Area Wildlife Manager (AWM), Assistant Area Wildlife Manager (AAWM), District Wildlife Managers (DWM), Wildlife Technician (WT), Customer Service Representatives (CSR), Administrative Assistants (AA) and Biologists (Bio) perform the work within Area 9 to provide these services to the public. In collaboration with the existing Wildlife Property Technician, this position shares responsibility for managing 19,000 acres of State Wildlife Areas within Area 9. This includes co-overseeing the operations and maintenance of the Hot Sulphur Springs Service Center, three employee residences, three shops, one bunkhouse, one shooting range, and various outbuildings.
