The City of Roanoke is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in support of the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Eureka Recreation Center. This position plays a key role in ensuring the facility remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for public use, programs, and rentals. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facility fixtures to ensure proper operation and reduce downtime. Duties also include completing minor repairs such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks. The Technician will respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and troubleshoot issues as they arise to support continuous facility operations. This position also coordinates closely with the City’s Facilities Maintenance Division to report larger maintenance needs, schedule repairs beyond in-house capabilities, and assist with contractor coordination as needed. The Technician may assist with facility inspections, monitor equipment conditions, and help ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. The position requires the ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and apply practical knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively coordinate with staff, supervisors, contractors, and other city departments. Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school.
