Position Summary: Associate Faculty provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing a quality learning experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. Instruction is provided throughout Cochise County via various media. This position is specific to our Douglas Campus for face-to-face instruction blended with some online learning. Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, it may include any of the following tasks: knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class. Note: Cochise College requires a post-offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees. This position is open until filled, with applications reviewed upon receipt. The job posting may close at any time. Compensation: $925 per equated credit unit Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or laboratory environment Develops, prepares, and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses, and plans for students’ educational and social needs Collaborates with other faculty and staff in the assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department Resolves issues relevant to the area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official Performs other related duties as assigned. General Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties efficiently, effectively, and competently and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines related to this position. Education and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree, preferred in Music or related discipline but not required, AND (required) 18 graduate hours in Voice, Choral and Piano from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education OR Bachelor’s degree in Music from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education and three (3) years of work or teaching experience in vocal performance & three (3) years of work or teaching experience in piano performance (can be concurrent) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures Knowledge of trends, developments, and new technologies affecting the Music program Knowledge of how to assist students of diverse cultures and backgrounds to improve and master their musical skills Knowledge of research-based adult learning principles Knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instructional approaches Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students’ needs and progress Skill with current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications Ability to instruct students in multiple skills and techniques around voice performance Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through
