The Transportation Engineer plays a key role in shaping the city’s mobility network by managing the planning, design, and construction of roadway, pedestrian, bike, and traffic improvement projects. This position leads capital improvement initiatives, oversees the ADA transition plan, reviews private development proposals, and provides technical guidance across city departments. The role also conducts traffic engineering analyses to enhance safety and optimize traffic flow while serving as a responsive resource for residents with infrastructure or transportation concerns. Starting Salary Range : The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($66,955.20 annually - $82,014.40 annually). If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
