Assists prosecutors in trial preparations and legal research as directed; performs other duties as assigned. The hiring salary for this position is $59,113 - $101,691 ; full salary range for this position is $59,113 - $101,691 Researches legal issues as directed; Analyzes case files and legal research regarding pending criminal cases; Assists prosecutors and prosecution team as requested; Aids in the preparation of criminal cases; Performs legal research; Reviews case files ensuring compliance with Maryland laws and Maryland Rules; Communicates with prosecutors and SAO support staff; Reviews case law, statutes, and pending legislation; Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures; Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary’s County Government to the public; Knowledge of the law and the preparation of legal documents and materials; Ability to effectively communicate with other staff, judges, attorneys, and members of the public; Ability to use available resources to research information; Ability to keep accurate records; Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and simple office machines; Excellent communications and analytical skills. Bachelor’s degree; Juris Doctorate Degree; or currently enrolled in an accredited Law School; Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience. Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings and training rooms.
