PAY & BENEFITS: Pay begins at $36,272.69 annually for Assistant Banquet Captain and is dependent upon applicable experience. In addition to the base salary, this full-time position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus. BENEFITS : Paid Holidays: 13 days Paid Time Off : 23 days (7.08 hours per pay period) Longevity Bonus: Based on Years of Service Merit Pay: Based on performance (Annual Salary increase and Bonus) Town Paid Benefits Include: Short and Long-Term Disability Employee Assistance Program Basic Life Insurance (1x Salary or $50k minimum, $10k spouse, & $5k child) Retirement Contribution & Match Education Reimbursement Free Wellness Programs and Free Gym Access Insurance Premium Costs (includes vision & dental) HSA: $20 single $110 family OAP: $25 single $150 family Description : This classification assists the Event Center Banquet Captain with all Food Service Workers. Other duties and responsibilities include serving food and beverages and overseeing general housekeeping and sanitation for the facility, including the routine work of the banquet facility. Duties and responsibilities include addressing customer requests and ensuring all facility areas are clean and presentable during events. Reports to the Banquet Captain. The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned. Works with the serving staff and liaison with the kitchen staff Sets rooms to standard instructions as listed on banquet sheets. Welcomes guests upon arrival and ensures the room setup and event timeline are acceptable. Handles all guest requests to ensure the event runs smoothly. Requests the Manager's assistance as needed. If changes occur at the event, must maintain a calm, level-headed demeanor to ensure a safe and successful event. Knows the menu for each function. If guests have questions about the meal, they will report to the chef for clarification. Establishes pre-function side work to be performed and makes sure all equipment is prepped and in good condition, notifying the Banquet Captain of any issues. Resolves guest complaints within the scope of authority; otherwise, refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor of all unusual events, circumstances, and missing items. Engages in all forms of customer service, including answering phones, maintaining correspondence, and addressing questions. Ensures that all storerooms (linen closet, break room, catering overstock room) are cleaned, stocked, and secured. Organizes the banquet hall to ensure a productive, safe, and energy-conservative work environment. Assists Towne Event Center employees with their duties in whatever capacity needed such as banquet set-up, collecting dirty dishes, and returning them to the dish room, etc. Advises Banquet Caption of equipment needs, rentals, supply needs, and employee staff issues. Maintains close communication, team-like attitude, and works cooperatively with Chef, Banquet Captain, and the rest of the staff and co-workers to ensure consistency of services and the highest quality of operation Performs all guest contact activities in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner. Adheres to all department and Town of Smyrna policies and procedures. Enforces all safety and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements. Maintains adequate communication to safeguard the Event Centre and all equipment. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. One (1) to two (2) years of customer service and supervisory experience in food service industry or any combination of education and work experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Server experience in a restaurant or banquet facility is preferred Must possess excellent hospitality skills
