Bulletin Number: 1976 NOTICE OF OPEN-COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION This posting is available for current City of Springfield employees only. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the interview process which are tentatively scheduled to take place in September 2026. The Springfield Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Division Fire Chief. In this role, you will perform responsible administrative, supervisory, and technical work within a major division of the Fire Department, as assigned by the Fire Chief upon selection. Experience, Education, and Training Requires Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND At least two years of cumulative service at the rank of Battalion Fire Chief. Licensing/Certification Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; Must possess and maintain IFSAC certification through the Missouri Division of Fire Safety as Incident Safety Officer, Fire Officer II, and Instructor I; Must have completed ICS 400; Must be professionally credentialed as Chief Fire Officer through Center for Public Safety Excellence; Must maintain professional designation throughout the duration of appointment; May be required to complete additional training or certification depending on assignment For more information on essential functions and other requirements, please see the job description .
