The Law, Safety and Justice IT division is seeking an IT Developer III to join the Application Development team. The team develops and supports applications for internal and external customers that enable business processes and services for all Law, Safety and Justice departments and functions. As a member of an agile software development team, the candidate should have knowledge of software development principles and be able to participate in the analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, deployment, and support of custom applications. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the 625 Building, 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with the ability to work extended hours as needed. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. About the position type: This is a full-time, benefit-earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County to apply for this position. In this position, you will: Communicate using strong written and verbal communication skills (technical and non-technical). Establish effective working relationships with other information technology staff and users. Participate in developing and supporting applications that are based on common technologies such as Angular, C#, Microsoft .NET, HTML, Java, JavaScript, SQL, and XML. Collaborate with development team members and customers to rapidly build and support applications in an agile framework. Work with developers, architects, and business analysts to design and create APIs, web services, reusable software, and application components. Work with quality assurance analysts to develop application components based on testable criteria. Develop user interface solutions for web-based applications following county and industry standards for usability and accessibility. Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and other IT partners to resolve complex and critical issues. Create and maintain application documentation in user guides, knowledge base articles, wikis, and other repositories. Need to have: One of the following: Six years or more of technology experience. Two-year college/vocational technical degree in a technology field or approved information technology certificate and five years or more of IT experience. Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses or completion of an approved IT Hennepin County internship and five years or more of IT experience. Bachelor's degree in a technology field and three years or more of IT experience. Master's degree in information technology and one year or more of IT experience. Nice to have: Experience: Developing applications using common technologies such as Angular, C#, Microsoft .NET, HTML, Java, JavaScript, SQL, and XML. Developing and maintaining APIs , data integrations , low-code configurable solutions , reusable software or application components , and web services . Developing and deploying applications or services to cloud environments. Developing applications to usability, accessibility, security, and other standards. Working on the development and implementation of business-critical applications. Working in an agile environment. Knowledge of: Software development lifecycle. Agile framework and ceremonies. Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance policies. Ability to: Build relationships and promote collaboration. Use organization skills and perform with attention to detail. Understand Hennepin County IT best practices.
