This is a responsible entry-level planning professional in the Planning Division of Palm Tran. Employees in this position will provide planning and project support to Palm Tran’s short- and long-range planning activities, assist in research studies, respond to suggestions and comments from the public, order and track shelter and amenity inventory, and assist with preparing planning documents. Responsibilities include developing, planning, reviewing and analyzing transit planning studies, market research, and federal government transit programs. In addition, the incumbent will work alongside the business community, citizen groups, FDOT, Palm Beach County, MPO, and other governmental agencies. This position works with relative independence on strategic operations and planning implementation. Supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews work for effectiveness, completeness, and accuracy. Associates’ Degree from an accredited college with major course work in City or Urban Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; plus, two (2) years’ professional experience in planning or related field; and moderate advanced skills with GIS and Microsoft Office Suite; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience could be: A High School Diploma or GED plus four (4) or more years of relevant experience in planning, public administration, engineering, architecture, or a related field, including moderate to advanced skills with GIS and Microsoft Office Suite. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with less than two (2) years of experience may also be considered equivalent. A Master’s degree with relevant coursework could fully substitute for the two (2) years of required experience if the coursework included practical applications, internships, or research projects related to planning or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in City or Urban Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
