Demonstrate your leadership skills by being team lead on the zoning counter and provide guidance and support to team members. Issue zoning approvals upon receipt of zoning applications by researching the underlying zoning district and uses and interprets the zoning ordinance, proffers, and special use permits. Assist the public by answering zoning questions and providing guidance about processes and procedures. About This Role: This position provides customer service for customers via telephone, in-person and email contact. You will conduct thorough reviews and process zoning applications in accordance with the zoning ordinance and/or special use permits/rezonings; ensure routing procedures are followed for routing customers to the zoning counter and other service counter windows at other agencies; accept and process payments and reconcile daily receipts and prepares daily deposits. This position is a lead position at the zoning counter and is responsible for review and critique of the work products of the zoning technician and zoning planners and is a supporting role for the zoning technicians, assisting them with zoning ordinance interpretations and the interpretation of proffers and special use permits. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related experience. Preferences: At least two years of experience working in zoning, planning or a related field. Knowledge of the principles and concepts of planning and zoning and familiarity with terminology. Experience working with customers and providing customer service. Cash handling experience is a plus. Background working with the public in a local government setting. Work Schedule: This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week. This position can telework 1-2 days per week after an initial probationary period. - This is a telework-eligible position that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change.
