Brunswick County Utility Billing Department is currently accepting applications for a P art Time Customer Service Representative to join our team. The Customer Service Representative is responsible for processing customer applications for water services and assisting with the set-up and maintenance of customer accounts. Work includes: Collecting payments for water and sewer usage at the counter, drive through, and by mail. Verifying and posting payments and charges to customer accounts for Public Utilities. Daily balancing of cash drawer. Preparing reports. Preparing and maintaining a variety of records and files, including month-end reports. Responding to routine requests for information, both in person and by telephone. The Customer Service Representative will have frequent and direct interaction with utility customers, both in person and by phone. Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide a high level of customer service while exercising tact and courtesy when dealing with the public is required. Work also requires the individual to exercise independent judgement and initiative in completing assignments. This position reports directly to the Customer Service Supervisor. Location & Work Schedule Brunswick County Utility Billing is located at 3769 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, NC 28422. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm, and the Part Time Customer Service Representative will be scheduled to work 15 to 20 hours per week to support operational needs during regular business hours. High school diploma (or equivalent) AND six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in clerical and/or bookkeeping work; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
