Incumbent performs work of an operational nature including safe operation of a City vehicle, support functions of routine field service, rereading meters, adjusting antennae, replacing meter boxes/lids, and generally assisting field service staff. Employees in this role will be responsible for customer contact in-person. The incumbent will prioritize tasks and usually performs independently with periodic supervision or review. Performs related work as required. Primary responsibilities include automated and manual water meter reading, and routine maintenance of water meters and related hardware. Interacts and communicates effectively with customers and co-workers. Replaces meter boxes/lids as needed. Performs rereads of meters as needed. Prepares meters for replacement. Replaces meter heads as needed. Attends training as assigned. Assists with routine Field Service functions. Safely operates a City-issued vehicle to perform job duties. Performs other field service duties as directed. Individuals assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule. This position generally works Monday-Friday, except designated holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED required. Must possess a valid State Driver's License and obtain a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of hire. Must possess general knowledge of principles of meter reading and mathematics. Must be skilled in written and oral communications. Must be able to read and interpret maps. Must be able to deal with the public in a professional manner.
